Networking skills

Brett was recently engaged by VCOSS, the peak body for community services in Victoria, to work with a dozen or so of their staff on networking skills.

While the word “networking” — let alone the reality of it — can send chills down spines, the ability to connect with other people is incredibly valuable, both for individuals’ careers and for organizations more broadly.

Brett has delivered this session as a keynote and a workshop for emerging professionals in a range of settings, often via peak bodies such as LG Pro and also for the CFA.

It’s a fun, practical session that acknowledges many people find the concept cringy and the reality intimidating.

Topics include:

  • Understanding the value of networking

  • Networking as an introvert

  • Developing your key messages

  • How to network before, during and after events

  • Breaking the ice with someone you don’t know

  • Habits to adopt at meetings

  • Using social media to your advantage

The session can help turn your workforce into a more outward-facing, confident and proud organization.
